The plan for this hike was to climb up and over the Wildcats and spend the night at the AMC Carter Notch Hut. Then the next day, work up over the Carters and to Mt. Moriah then down to the car. Day two of the hike didn't go as planned due mainly to poor weather. The very humid day Thursday took more out of me than planned, and the poor weather forecast for Friday made hiking along the ridge a less than ideal plan. I took the safe way out and hiked back out Friday morning and got a ride back to the car.
The hike totaled 8.75 miles with 3,479 feet of elevation gain. It did get me up and over two 4,000 footers with Mt. Wildcat "D" Peak (4,062 ft) and Mt. Wildcat "A" Peak (4,422 ft). Weather Thursday was foggy to start, then cleared some, before getting cloudy again. All while staying very humid. Friday it rained most of the day getting quite heavy at times.
