  • The Moosilauke summit about a mile away
  • The Carriage Road leads up the ridge to the Moosilauke summit
  • Rime has formed on the summit cairn at the South Peak
  • The rime ice was pretty impressive here. The ice feathers were about 4 inches long
  • The view to the west from the South Peak summit
  • A closure look at the Carriage Road heading up the ridge to the summit
  • There was still plenty of snow on the Carriage Road. It looked to still be at least 3 feet deep in places
  • Since the last major storm, a moose has been up the trail for quite a ways. It only sunk in deep a handful of times in almost 3/4 of a mile
  • Rime is getting thicker and thicker on the trees
  • A closer look at a tree next to the trail
  • Getting close to the summit as I go over an icy patch in the trail. It was around here I was starting to feel the force of the wind
  • The summit ahead
  • Looking back on the Carriage Road. It went from 3 foot deep snow to only 6 inch thick ice in less than 20 feet
  • The summit of Mt. Moosilauke
  • Rocks at the summit covered in rime
  • Part of an old hotel foundation at the summit area
  • The open summit area to the north. Finally on my third attempt I had something for a view in this direction
  • The Gorge Brook Trail heading off to the east from the summit
  • The view to the northeast from the summit
  • Franconia Ridge can be seen to the northeast. The highest summits of the ridge are just into the clouds
